Record increase in motorcycle theft, mobile snatching incidents in Karachi

KARACHI: Motorcycle theft and mobile phone snatching have risen to record levels in the city.

According to the Citizen Police Legislation Committee (CPLC), in September this year, there was a 45% increase in motorcycle snatching and a 29% increase in mobile phone snatching.

According to the report, the number of motorcycle thefts in September this year exceeded 3,900 while in September 2019, there were 2,806 incidents of motorcycle theft.

The report states that 2,471 mobile phones were snatched from Karachi residents in September 2020, compared to 1,735 people who lost their mobile phones in September last year.
