Rangers deployed in Lahore due to political turmoil

Lahore: Rangers have been given the responsibility of maintaining law and order situation around the Punjab Assembly in Lahore.
The decision to deploy Rangers was taken at a meeting of the District Intelligence Committee chaired by Deputy Commissioner Lahore.
According to the notification, Rangers will be deployed around the Punjab Assembly for 15 days.
The notification said that there was a dispute between the political parties over the session of the Punjab Assembly while the powers of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker were also in dispute.
Notification stated that, members of the assembly are also likely to be stopped on the way to the assembly.
Earlier on Tuesday, Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Dost Muhammad Mazari first issued a declaration to convene the meeting on April 6 and then changed the date to the late night meeting on April 6.
PML-Q had refused to accept the decision of Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly to convene a meeting on April 6.
On the other hand, the government submitted a no-confidence motion against its own Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari.
