ISLAMABAD: Veteran journalist Hamir Mir has claimed that the Sindh government has relayed Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader and former Sindh governor Muhammad Zubair that Rangers abducted the Inspector General of Sindh Police to force him to arrest captain (retd) Safdar.
“Unfortunate incident, Sindh government informed PML-N leader Muhammad Zubair that IG Sindh was kidnapped by Rangers at 4 in the morning he was brought in sector commander’s office where additional IG was already present and were forced to issue the orders for the arrest of Captain Retd Safdar,” Hamid Mir tweeted.
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif had informed through a tweet that her husband was arrested in Karachi.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that Muhammad Safdar was arrested by breaking the door of her hotel room. On the arrest of Safdar, Maryam had contacted Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
Video of arrest of Safdar is doing rounds on social media.
Demand for arrest of Maryam’s husband was being made by the ruling government leaders immediately after Safdar had violated the sanctity of Mazar-e-Quaid by chanting slogans “Vote ko Izzat do and Madar-e-Milat Zindabad,” near grave of Mohammed Ali Jinnah on October 18 in Karachi.
