Rana Sanaullah exempted from appearing before court in drug possession case

An anti-narcotics court in Lahore exempted PML-N chief Rana Sanaullah from appearing on Saturday in a drug possession trial.
Sanaullah’s lawyers also filed a petition for exemption. It said the leader of the PML-N can not attend court hearing in person due to the coronavirus threat. He said traveling without protection is dangerous, and he can not ride with his security guard.
Sanaullah’s lawyers were ordered by the court to present their claims at the next June 6 trial.
On 1 July 2019 Sanaullah was arrested for possession of drugs. The ANF claims it confiscated 15 kilograms of heroin from its vehicle. On the other hand, the PML-N leader has denied the charge. Sanaullah’s wife said the drugs were planted in the car.
