Rain expected in Karachi today as Kyarr intensifies

Many houses near Karachi’s coastal areas have been flooded because of the cyclonic storm Kyarr. The flood affected my houses in Ibrahim Hyderi, Rehri Goth and Lath Basti.

According to the Pakistan Meteorologist Department, the storm has intensified in the Arabian Sea. Kyarr is heading towards Oman, however, it can affect Karachi’s coastal areas too.

The cyclone also affected Karachi’s Golf Club.

Meteorologists have predicted rain in Karachi on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sardar Sarfaraz, Chief meteorologist said that rain and thunderstorms may hit to the city on October 31 and November 1.

“The rain, however, will not be heavy. It all depends on how far Kyarr is from Karachi’s coast,” he added.

An emergency has been declared by the Fishermen Cooperative Society and has instructed fishermen to avoid going into the deep sea.
