Rain batters different parts of Karachi; Lahore to receive rain on Sunday

KARACHI: Another spell of monsoon rain lashed different parts of Karachi on Thursday as per the prediction of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
While, PMD has predicted rain with thunderstorm in Lahore on Aug 9 (Sunday).
Electricity supplying system of K-Electric collapsed in major areas as soon as the rain pounded Karachi. Sources said demand and supply of power in the megalopolis experienced a shortfall of 600MW, as 120 MW supply to the company from Gharo Wind Corridor was suspended.
Earlier this week, the PMD has warned that heavy rains and thunderstorm starting from Thursday to Saturday in Karachi and Hyderabad may cause urban flooding.
The met department had predicted that a monsoon system generating from Bay of Bengal may enter from south Punjab and Sindh into Pakistan on Thursday evening or night.
Under the influence of this weather system strong monsoon currents are expected to penetrate in Sindh, South Punjab and Eastern Balochistan from Thursday (evening/night) to Saturday.
The job of cleaning nullahs across Karachi is still undone which may prove to be disastrous once again.
