PESHAWAR:  On the 4th death anniversary of Abdul Sattar Edhi a Quran recitation ceremony was held in Edhi’s main Peshawar center to convey the reward of the virtuous deed. Dozens of volunteers from Edhi foundation attended the prayer ceremony headed by Incharge Shergil.

Abdul Sattar Edhi started welfare services in 1951 in Karachi, established the world’s largest volunteer ambulance network along with homeless shelters, animal shelters, and orphanages across the country.

Many international and national awards, including Nishan-e-Imtiaz, were bestowed upon him in recognition of his services for humanity.

Edhi strongly believed in protecting basic human rights without any discrimination of color, caste, and creed and throughout his life, he portrayed that the only religion is “service for humanity”.
