Queen Elizabeth’s husband Prince Philip dies at 99
The Queen Elizabeth II’s husband and the longest-serving consort of any British monarch, Prince Philip has died at age 99, on Friday (today).
Philip was born into the Greek and Danish royal families in 1921. He joined the British Royal Navy in 1939, aged 18. From July 1939, he began corresponding with the thirteen-year-old Princess Elizabeth, whom he had first met in 1934.
Philip spent a month in hospital earlier this year before being released on March 16 to return to Windsor Castle.
Moreover, Prince Philip had four children, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
