Qasim Suri’s entry banned in NPC over his ‘objectionable’ remarks against Saleem Safi

The National Press Club (NPC) administration has restricted the entry of PTI leader and former Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri in the club, due to his ‘objectionable’ statement against senior journalist Saleem Safi.
The NPC termed Suri’s statement as an attack on ‘freedom of press’.
According to the statement issued by NPC President Anwar Raza, Secretary General Khalil Raja and Finance Secretary Nayyar Ali, “it was not fair to accuse any journalist.”
The statement further said that such derogatory and unconstitutional language by a lawmaker will not be tolerated in any case.
“If any person was aggrieved due to any journalist, legal measures should be adopted. But usage of derogatory language was not fair,” it stated.
The National Press Club urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to give political training to his party leaders and workers.
The National Press Club has advised Qasim Suri to refrain from making such statements while demanding an apology.
