LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Saturday said the government had decided to establish four new labs to enhance the capacity of already functioning laboratories for coronavirus detection.
“These labs would be able to test more than 15,000 patients in a week,” she said while talking to a private news channel.
She said the coronavirus positive cases would be sent to isolation wards, while people with negative results would be advised to stay in self-quarantines as a precaution.

NDRM Fund extends grant financing of $50 million
CEO National Disaster Risk Management Fund Lieutenant General (Retired) Nadeem Ahmed on Saturday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad.
CEO NDRMF apprised the prime minister about financing aimed to enhance Pakistan’s capacity for preparedness and response for Covid-19.
He said an amount of 50.0 million dollars will be provided to NDMA for procuring Testing kits, Viral RNA Extraction Kits, Mobile X-ray machines, Clinical ICU Ventilators, Syringe Pumps, N 95 Masks, protection suits for health care, Thermal Guns and Scanners with the assistance of the Ministry of National Health Services.
The PM appreciated the role of NDRMF for providing urgent financing to NDMA to cope with emergent situation in wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
