The government of Punjab has closed all educational institutions and suspended all public meetings and activities for three weeks.
It said in a notification Friday that all public and private schools, colleges, medical colleges, technical and vocational institutions and universities will remain closed for three weeks. All exams being taken or to be taken over the next three weeks were canceled by the Government.
It said all religious seminaries would remain closed, and it would allow only international students to stay in hostels. The provincial government has directed all wedding halls, banquets and marquees to be closed for three weeks.
Likewise all religious congregations, rituals, Jashn-e-Baharan and other festivals were cancelled as well.
Meetings with prisoners had been prohibited, the notice said, adding that there would not be any other public meetings of any sort for three weeks.
It was also agreed by the provincial government that the remaining Pakistan Super League matches will be played in Lahore without a crowd.
It said it would conduct an active publicity campaign with respect to the coronavirus pandemic, in coordination with the primary health department. The provincial government has ordered all departments to provide specific instructions and guidance for enforcing their decisions effectively.
