PA session to elect CM Punjab to take place today

Punjab Assembly session to elect Leader of the house will take place today (Saturday)
A session of the Punjab Assembly will be held under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari today at 11:30 am in which the Chief Minister of the province will be elected.
Hamza Shahbaz is the candidate of PML-N and allied parties for the Chief Ministership while Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is the unanimous candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and PML-Q.
Both candidates are making contradictory claims of their respective victories. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has 189 members while Hamza Shahbaz Sharif has claimed the support of more than 200 members.
The Punjab Assembly has 371 members and the current assembly has 183 members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) while PML-N has 166 members. In addition, PML-Q has 10 members, PPP has 7 members, while the House currently has 4 independent members and Rah-e-Haq party has one in the assembly. Total of 186 votes are required to become Chief Minister.
According to sources, the number of dissident members of PTI is 21 while 5 members of PML-N are dissident with their party.
