Public transport in Karachi to be turned into electrical buses
KARACHI: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said on Sunday that the federal govt wanted to introduce electric buses in Karachi.
He said that Karachi was having a public transportation problem and the incumbent government would take care of the problem soon.
“We would suggest this project to the Sindh government through the governor,” the minister said, adding he would also meet Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah in the next visit to request him to switch the public transport in Karachi to electricity.
The minister also added that the ideal rate for taking advantage of the move to battery-powered buses would be to divert forty percent of complete public transport to trolleybuses in the span of ten years.
He also said that 3-wheeled modes of transportation will be launched for female travelers in the city.
