 PubG ban will remain in place, PTA announces

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has announced that the ban on online game PubG will remain in place.

A statement issued by the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) said that the ban on online game ‘Players in Non-Battle Ground (PubG) will remain in place.

The decision to close the game was taken in a detailed hearing held at PTA on July 9 on the direction of the Lahore High Court, the statement said.

According to a PTA spokesperson, interested parties attended the hearing. The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority also requested the management of the online game to provide data.

Press Release: PTA has decided that online game Players' Unknown Battle Ground (PUBG) remains blocked. The decision has been made by the Authority after a detailed hearing conducted in PTA on July 9 on the directions of the Lahore High Court.

According to the statement, PTA demanded the pub management to provide information regarding game seasons, The PUBG management has not yet responded to Pakistan’s request.

Other interested parties also attended the hearing. PTA has approached PUBG management to share data about PUBG sessions and users in Pakistan and controls in place by the company. However, response from PUBG is awaited.

It may be recalled that after the suicide of three youths, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had on July 1 temporarily banned the game PubG on mobile phones across the country.
