PTI’s Sibtain Khan elected as Speaker Punjab Assembly

PTI-PMLQ joint candidate Sibtain Khan elected as the Speaker of Punjab Assembly.

The seat of the Punjab Assembly fell vacant after the former office bearer, Pervez Elahi was elected as the Punjab chief minister.

PTI’s Sibatin Khan got 185 votes while PML-N’s Saiful Malook Khokhar got 175 votes and 4 votes were rejected.

The newly elected Speaker Punjab Assembly Sibtain Khan took the oath of office immediately after the success and assumed the responsibilities.

Earlier, the process of electing the speaker in the Punjab Assembly was temporarily adjourned for a short time after the opposition candidate objected to the ballot papers.

Pakistan Muslim League (N) candidate Saiful Malook Khokhar objected that the ballot papers had serial numbers written on them and as per the reports, PTI had tampered with the papers.

After which Waseem Baduzai asked for security inside the House, but after a short break, the polling process started again.

Earlier, the members of the Punjab Assembly entered the House to attend the meeting and former Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz had a brief conversation with the journalists.

In the previous meeting, the rules were suspended and a resolution was passed for the election of a new speaker and a no-confidence motion against Deputy Speaker Dost Mohammad Mazari.
