PTI submits record of 40,000 donors with ECP

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Leader for Railways Farrukh Habib on Tuesday said that the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) submitted record of 40,000 donors with the Scrutiny Committee of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
“The PTI has done transparent fund raising and the party has the proof of its funding,” Farrukh Habib said while talking to media in Islamabad.
He said the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) started getting foreign funding and committed money laundering. He challenged PML-N Vice President Maryam Safdar to show the record of the sources of her party’s funding to the ECP on her appearance before the election body. He said that his party will emerge victorious in Akbar S Babar case.
In Jan 2021, the scrutiny committee of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had asked to scrutinise the records of two US-based firms in PTI foreign funding case. The companies were registered on the instruction of Imran Khan.
The demand was put forward by the petitioner Akbar S Babar’s lawyers Syed Ahmad Hassan Shah and Badar Iqbal Chaudhry, at the Election Commission Secretariat.
In Jan 2020, PTI Chairman Imran Khan had filed a plea in the Supreme Court challenging the verdict of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) declaring Akbar S Babar as his party member in the foreign funding case.
Imran Khan had said Akbar S Babar, a founding member of the party, was no more associated with the PTI since 2011. He had said an email in which Akbar Babar announced to dissociate with the party was on the record.
In November 2014, Akbar S Babar had filed a petition against the party’s head Imran Khan, claiming irregularities in handling foreign funds.
