Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Chief Organiser Saifullah Khan Nyazee on Tuesday wrote a letter to the chief of the Election Commission of Pakistan requesting “necessary arrangements” for isolated COVID-19 patients to let them cast their votes in the upcoming by-elections.
“As the upcoming elections are being held on the heals of COVID-19 epidemic. We fear that some of the voters might not be able to exercise their right to vote for being in isolation due to COVID-19,” the Chief Organiser stated.
“Therefore we request ECP to make necessary arrangements at all polling stations for them to cast their votes in accordance with COVID SOPs,” he added.
In Punjab, elections on the vacant seats are going to be held in Gujaranwala (PP-51) and Sialkot (NA-75) on February 19.
While in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the elections are going to be held on the vacant National Assembly seat NA-45 Kurram and Provincial Assembly seat PK-63 Nowshera on February 19.
In Sindh, by-polls in NA-221 Tharparkar will be held on February 21.
