The offer was made to him on behalf of the ruling party by Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, which he has confirmed to media. Pervaiz Khattak and Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani discussed the offer with the JUI-F leader during a meeting.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Rana Sanaullah said that the JUI-F had agreed with the other Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties to support Pakistan Peoples Party leader Yousaf Raza Gillani for the slot of Chairman Senate.

To a query, Abdul Ghafoor said, “Sadiq Sanjarani is our chairman and we keep meeting him. However, I can’t say who will be the chairman of the Senate after March 12.”
