PTI files Toshakhana reference against PPP’s Asif Zardari

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday submitted a Toshakhana reference against PPP’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to Speaker National Assembly (NA) Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, demanding the disqualification of the former president.
The PTI’s reference reads, “There are evidences present of Asif Zardari’s deviation from the law as he took three vehicles from Toshakhana during Yousuf Raza Gilani tenure, he was not eligible to take vehicles from Toshakhana as President.
The Toshakhana reference against former Prime Minister Imran Khan is under hearing, in which the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also asked the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) for details of PTI Chairman’s bank accounts.
National Assembly (NA) Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf sent a reference to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the disqualification of PTI chief Imran Khan for selling presents from Toshakhana during his government.
In the Election Commission office, a hearing was held on Imran Khan’s disqualification reference for not disclosing Toshakhana gifts. In response, Imran Khan has admitted receiving the gifts and not disclosing in the reports.
Barrister Ali Zafar, Imran Khan’s counsel admitted that his client sold at least 4 gifts during 2018-19.
On September 19, ECP has reserved its verdict of Toshakhana case against Imran Khan.
