SIALKOT: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate from NA-75 Daska on Friday challenged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)’s decision regarding re-polling in his constituency in the Supreme Court.

Ali Asjad said that the ECP’s decision was not based on facts, hence it should be declared invalid.

On Feb 25, on a petition filed by the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), the ECP had announced its decision regarding by-poll in NA-75 Daska. Viewing irregularities in the by-election, the ECP had ordered to hold election again in the constituency of Sialkot on March 19.

The opposition had alleged that presiding officers did not show up on 20 polling stations to announce results which amounted to rigging in the election.

An armed clash had also taken place between supporters of the ruling and the opposition parties which resulted in deaths of two and injuries of three others on Feb 18.
