PTA blocks TikTok app, website across Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked TikTok application and website across Pakistan after the Chinese company failed to take inappropriate content down from the social media platform.
In a press release, the PTA said that in the light of relevant provisions of Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016, the PTA had blocked access to TikTok App and website in the country.
“The action has been taken due to continuous presence of inappropriate content on the platform and its failure to take such content down,” read the statement issued by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.
This is the fourth time the app is being banned after the decision to ban the application was withdrawn earlier this month by the Sindh High Court.
Earlier on June 28, the SHC had ordered to ban the famous video-sharing app while issuing a notice to the attorney general of Pakistan.
