Protests held at scattered areas of Karachi against water scarcity, loadshedding

KARACHI: Residents of different areas on Thursday staged protests against water scarcity and unannounced electricity loadshedding in Karachi.

A large number of people, including women and children, gathered at scattered places of the metropolis with empty vessels and protested for their demands to be accepted.

Demonstrations were held at Gharibabad, Teen Hatti, North Nazimabad and North Karachi.

Police have peacefully dispersed the protesting crowd at Teen Hatti after warning them of strict action.

Talking to the scribe, a senior police official said nobody could be allowed to block arteries for suspension of water or electricity supply.

“Those who challenged writ of the state will be arrested and an FIR will be lodged against them,” he said.
