Protests against the closure of Pak-Afghan border continue
CHAMAN: Protests against the closure of the Pak-Afghan border in Chaman have been going on for a month and a half.
Protests in Chaman have been staged by local businessmen and various political parties. Due to the sit-in, the Pak-Afghan highway is still completely blocked and trade is also suspended due to the closure of the highway. Transit trade, including NATO supplies, imports, and exports, is also closed.
The participants demanded that the government open the Pak-Afghan border in the same manner as before. The closure of the Pak-Afghan highway has caused huge financial loss to the government and traders.
Chaman Chamber of Commerce President Adam Khan Achakzai has said that crores of rupees are being lost daily due to the closure of the highway. Traders, exporters, and importers are facing heavy fines from foreign companies.
Adam Khan Achakzai added that the Laghari Alliance, political parties and business organizations have flatly refused to open the Pak-Afghan highway.
