Today is the 13th death anniversary of the eminent novelist Qurratulain Hyder, who gave a new style and identity to Urdu literature with his perfect writing.
Born on January 20, 1927, in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India, Qurratulain Hyder’s two novels, ‘Aag ka darya’ and ‘Akhir shab k humsafar’ , are considered masterpieces of Urdu literature. Other famous novels by Qurratulain Hyder include “Mere Bhi Sanam Khane, Chandni Begum and Kar Jahan Daraz”.
For his last night companion, he was awarded India’s most prestigious literary award, the Gyan Peta Award, while the Indian government also awarded him the Padma Shri in 1985 and the Padma Bhushan in 2005.
He did not get married and spent his life alone, devoting his life to literature, journalism, and education. His writings also continue to be a source of knowledge of civilization and history for scholars. She passed away on August 21, 2007, after a long illness
