ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday won the vote of confidence with simple majority in the National Assembly.
In 2018, Imran Khan had bagged 176 votes, while today he has received 178 votes. This was announced by Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Saturday. He required 172 votes to win with a simple majority.
Consequently, Imran Khan has gained vote of confidence and has been reinstated as the prime minister.
Asad Qaiser had presided over the National Assembly session for the vote of confidence sought by PM Imran Khan. At the onset, he detailed out the procedure of casting the vote in favour or against the prime minister.
President Dr Arif Alvi had summoned the National Assembly to meet today at 12:15 pm for this purpose. A large number of parliamentarians had thronged to the House. While, the opposition parties had boycotted the NA session.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had presented the resolution in this regard on the assembly floor.
