PESHAWAR: The process of submitting nomination papers for Cantonment Boards elections has started across the country from Monday (today).
The candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers till July 29. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has appointed chief executive officer of the cantonment boards as returning officers for the elections in their respective areas as two-day training for them has already been completed.
According to the election schedule, submission of nomination papers would continue from July 26 to 29. Names of the candidates who would have submitted the papers would be made public on July 30. The nomination papers would be examined from July 31 to August 3.
Appeals against approval or rejection of the nomination papers could be filed from August 4 to August 7, on which decision would be announced by August 10. A list of the candidates, whose papers would have been approved, would be published on August 11 and the candidates would be able to withdraw their names by August 12. Then, a list of the final candidates would be published on August 13 and they would be allotted their election symbols.
The elections would be held on September 12 and the returning officers would announce the final results on September 17.
There are a total of forty three cantonments in Pakistan.
