“Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif as PM,” announces Maryam Nawaz
In a tweet, Maryam Nawaz has congratulated the nation on getting rid of “an incompetent and a failed government,” announcing that Shahbaz Sharif is going to be the new PM of Pakistan.
Earlier, a five-member bench of the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the April 3 ruling of the Deputy Speaker and dissolution of the National Assembly was unconstitutional, after which the Supreme Court restored the National Assembly.
The Supreme Court in its decision said that the National Assembly session should be convened on April 9.
The apex court further said that the vote on the no-confidence motion should be held on Saturday at 10 am. The orders of the caretaker government of the President are declared null and void, if the no-confidence motion is succeed then the assembly should elect a new Prime Minister.
The court ruled that no member would be barred from casting his vote, adding that if the no-confidence motion failed, the government would continue to run its affairs.
