Despite government claims of inflation, commodity prices have risen.
According to the weekly report of the Bureau of Statistics on Inflation, inflation rose by 0.71% in one week and 26 essential commodities became more expensive in the current week.
According to the report, the average price of tomato has gone up to Rs 91.89 per kg and the average price of sugar has gone up from Rs 93.91 to Rs 94.72 per kg after an increase of 81 paise per kg.
In one week, live chicken broilers went up by Rs 8 per kg and eggs by Rs 7 per dozen, while dal mash went up by Rs 2, dal mung by Rs 1 per kg, dal masur, dal chana, flour, garlic and onion by Rs. Recorded.
Fresh milk, yogurt, rice and small meats also became more expensive, the report said.
According to the report, prices of three items were cheaper and 22 items remained stable during the recent week
