ISLAMABAD: President Arif Alvi on Wednesday once again approached the Supreme Court in Justice Qazi Faez Isa case.
Under the constitutional right, Arif Alvi filed the new petition seeking re-hearing of the case. The plea comprising 70-pages makes Qazi Faez Isa also a litigant in the case.
He said hearing could be held on the basis of suo moto jurisdiction and curative jurisdiction, after the top court’s verdict on the review petition.
A month ago, the apex court had accepted Qazi Faez Isa’s review petition which demanded withdrawal of the order to the Federal Board of Revenue to investigate his and his family’s properties in London.
On Jun 19, 2020, the Supreme Court had quashed the presidential reference against apex court’s judge Qazi Faez Isa.
During the hearing, Faez Isa had submitted documents regarding his money trail and his wife submitted copies of documents of agricultural land and passport. Prior to this, Faez Isa’s counsel Munir A Malik completed his argument. He said his client was alleged of deliberately hiding his assets, while the judiciary committee was of the opinion that there was an ambiguity in the law related to revealing foreign assets.
