President appeals to youth to donate blood for Thalassemia patients

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has appealed the youth to come forward and donate blood to treat Thalassemia patients in the testing times of coronavirus outbreak.
He was speaking at a ceremony, after visiting Thalassemia Center at F-9 Park in Islamabad on Friday.
The president said problems for children suffering from Thalassemia have became manifolds in the wake of closure of the public transport due to Coronavirus crisis. He said he had advised all the provincial governments and other relevant agencies to look for donors to facilitate Thalassemia patients as they frequently needed blood transfusion. He said urged blood donors to visit the blood donation centers and give blood to save Thalassemia patients.
The president, on the occasion, talked to the children suffering from Thalassemia and distributed gifts among them.

Sixty-six new coronavirus cases have been detected during last twenty-four hours across the country, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 2450.
According to latest official data, thirty-five people have died of the disease since its outbreak, 126 patients have recovered while ten patients are in critical condition.
In Punjab, the total number of coronavirus cases is 920, in Sindh 783, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 311, Balochistan 169, Islamabad 68, Gilgit-Baltistan 190 and in Azad Kashmir nine.
