President Arif Alvi has called for national unity and urged people to take preventive measures against the coronavirus pandemic.
He said in a video message that the Chinese people have shown great strength and solidarity against the pandemic, while encouraging the people of Pakistan to learn from the experience of the Chinese and combat the disease with resilience.
The President also highlighted creating awareness about ways of fighting the virus. He urged the media and religious leaders to come forward to deal with the challenge.
Any person suffering from a fever should instantly cover themselves with a mask, and others should wash their hands with soap regularly, he said.
Meanwhile, at the end of the two-day visit to China, the Pakistani delegation was tested for coronavirus and all of them tested negative.
In a statement on Wednesday, Foreign Office mentioned that it has officially received the Pakistani delegation’s tests conducted by China. Among others, President Dr. Arif Alvi, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar were also tested.
It is important to mention here that prior to their departure for China, the Pakistani delegation was tested for the virus and the delegation left from Islamabad after clearing the test.
