ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Friday has said that tabling Army Act Amendment Bill 2020 in the National Assembly (NA) is victory on part of the Parliament.
After the NA session, the PPP chief spoke to the media saying that NA Shehbaz Sharif’s opposition leader should have consulted with other parties before promising unconditional bill support.

Earlier today, Minister of Defense Pervez Khattak submitted three bills in the NA today: “Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill 2020,” Pakistan Air Force (Amendment) Bill 2020, “and Pakistan Navy (Amendment) Bill 2020.
The hearings were adjourned until Saturday morning and all three bills were also referred to the relevant standing committees on the basis of rules and regulations.

Government delegation led by Defense Minister Pervez Khattak met with leaders of PML-N on Thursday and sought their help on the amendment bill for the Army Act.
The committee made up of Pervez Khattak, Federal Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Senator Azam Swati and House Leader in Senate Syed Shibli Faraz arrived at the opposition chamber and discussed the matter with Khawaja Asif, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Rana Tanvir from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and others.
In addition to the PML-N, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) also expressed its support for the amendment bill and promised that it would help the government approve it in the assembly.
