KABUL: The Taliban on Monday said that the preparations for the new government under Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan were complete and the government would soon be announced.
Taliban Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said preparations for the government’s announcement were complete and only technical work remained. “We ourselves want to see this happen soon and we are waiting. The government will be announced in the next few days,” he tweeted without announcing the exact date or day.
He said that China, Russia, Qatar, Turkey, Iran and Pakistan were invited to attend the ceremony related to announcement of the new government.
Zabihullah Mujahid said the Taliban saw China’s support as a positive step and expected China to recognise the new government.
He also shared pictures of reconstruction work on a bridge in eastern Paktika province.
Talking about Taliban’s capturing of Panjshir province and appointment of government officials. He said all Taliban officials in Panjshir were from this province.
“The governor and his deputy are residents of Panjshir. All other officials have also been appointed from here, so that no one has any objection,” he maintained.
Meanwhile, Afghan Taliban have announced to capture Panjshir valley, eliminating the last pocket of resistance the group had been fighting with since it reclaimed regime in Afghanistan after 20 years.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid in a statement said: “With this victory, our country is completely taken out of the muudle of war.”
After the take over of Kabul, there were reports of heavy fighting between National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF) and Taliban fighters in Panjshir valley.
Videos of the Taliban fighters hoisting their flag at the Governor House of Panjshir are being circulated on social media.
Earlier, the Taliban declared Afghanistan a “free and sovereign” country after the United States Armed forces left the country on August 31 after two decades of war.
