KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Rashid Rabbani has tested positive for coronavirus for second time, local media reported on Friday.
Rashid Rabbani was shifted to Ziauddin Hospital in Karachi last night after his health condition deteriorated. He is a senior member of PPP’s Karachi leadership.
Family of the coronavirus patient has confirmed the news relaying that he had contracted the viral disease two months ago as weel. The family said that he was tested negative for the virus after spending 20 days in quarantine then, while the antibodies test had surprisingly later revealed that he never contracted COVID-19.

The PPP leader had been suffering from chest infection for last one week. Yesternight he was shifted to the hospital in Clifton after he felt difficulty in breathing. Doctors said that the infection had spread in his lungs and chest which was crating difficulty in breathing for him, therefore he has been put on ventilator.

661 new cases of coronavirus surfaced in Pakistan after the tests of 33,898 over the last twenty-four hours. According to the latest statistics, the contagion claimed lives of eight more people.
The figure of patients recovered from the virus has reached 302, 708. There are now 8, 335 active cases in the country.
