Powerful countries remain silent on HR violations in Kashmir because of trade interests: PM Imran

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said heavy military deployment in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir showed the fascist mindset of the Indian government’s extremist RSS ideology that had continued the siege for more than 100 days in the valley.

In a tweet, he said Kashmiris were being subjected to the worst violation of their human rights and the powerful countries remained silent because of their trading interests in India.

PM Imran said this in response to the news of India’s consul general to New York City Sandeep Chakravorty’s announcing that his country would build Israel-like settlements in Kashmir to increase Hindu populace in the region.

Sandeep Chakravorty has said that the plan would take some time to materialize. He said if Israel could establish settlements then why India could not follow that.

On Nov 20, Imran Khan had asked the international community to urge India to abide by its obligations on children’s rights, particularly for the children in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

“As we celebrate #UniversalChildrensDay this year, we must not forget the suffering of children of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The international community must urge India to abide by its obligations under CRC on child rights, particularly for the children in IOJK,” PM Khan had tweeted.

He had said as the world celebrated Universal Children’s Day and 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of Child (CRC), “I wish to reiterate Pakistan’s commitment to the protection of child rights. Let’s work for a better future for our children as we celebrate Children’s Day!”

On Nov 9, Premier Imran Khan had said the entire subcontinent could become prosperous, if the dispute of Kashmir was resolved.
