QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Jam Kamal Khan chaired a meeting on Monday to review steps including the purchasing of wheat, launch of construction activities in the private and official sector, lockdown status of traders and other relevant issues in the wake of coronavirus.
During the meeting, some important decisions were made under the supervision of the chief minister to tackle COVID-19.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Ministers including Mir Saleem Khosa, Abdul Khaliq Hazara, Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Asghar Khan Achakzai, Mubeen Khan Khilji, Chief Secretary Balochistan, Fazeel Asghar, Secretary for Food, Dostain Jamaldeni, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Quetta, Special Secretary for Health, Commissioner Quetta, Deputy Commissioner and other relevant officials.
At the meeting, the officer of the Food Department was instructed to undertake steps to ensure government-level purchase of wheat which included 12 wheat acquisition transportations and the establishment of centers in the Naseerabad Division under the supervision of Chief Minister Balochistan.
The meeting also instructed the Communications Department to start building roads and building structures in different phases and it was also decided that the aim of lockdown was to monitor the spread of coronavirus to protect public health.
It agreed to make loans available to poor traders to assist them and distribute rations to those labourers who worked through traders’ organizations at various shops.
Chief Minister Balochistan said provincial and federal governments are providing financial assistance to the poor, including regular wagers under the Ehsaas Kafalat System and rationing in their respective provincial areas to decrease the worries of needy people in lockdown.
