Police intercepted a total of 1,800 bags of wheat being smuggled to Phalia’s Mandi Bahauddin on Sunday, police said.
The wheat was brought into the district on three trucks, and cost Rs5 million, according to Phalia Assistant Commissioner Sajid Munir.
The three drivers were arrested. Munir added the government had prohibited wheat transportation from one district to another.
The government issued strict orders for the supply and selling of wheat following incidents of hoarding skyrocketed across the country in the midst of the novel outbreak of coronavirus.
