MANSEHRA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police raided the house of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Mufti Kifayatullah and arrested his brother, brother-in-law and two sons in his absence.

Later on Mufti Kifayatullah took to twitter and termed the raid as an act of ”terrorism”. The police raid was conducted after the provincial government registered a case against the JUI-F leader for his “anti-army” remarks.

گھر پر مسلسل چھاپے اور بچوں کو اپنے ساتھ لیجانا کونسے ریاستی اصول ہے، اس دہشتگردی کا جواب دینا ہوگا

— Mufti Kifayatullah (@MuftiKifayatJUI) January 1, 2021

During a political talk show last week, he said “[army] generals too should be held accountable for their theft”. Following his statement, Interior minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed had announced to take swift against the cleric.

Other JUI-F members also condemned the raid. Aslam Ghuari remarked that Imran Khan should have been charged instead of Mufti Kifayatullah as Khan had said more(against the army in the past) than Mufti Kifayatullah .
