Police launch crackdown on fancy number plates, tinted glasses in Karachi

KARACHI: Karachi traffic police have launched a crackdown on fancy number plates and tinted glasses of vehicles from August 1 (today) in the metropolis.
During snap checking, the police have challaned dozens of vehicles for violating the traffic rules including using fancy number plates and tinted shades on Thursday.
Traffic police have warned people that installation of the number plates issued by the Sindh Excise Department should be ensured and those who were not issued number plates should install plates similar to the sample approved by the government, otherwise their motorbike, jeep or car could be confiscated in addition to levying fine.
The police have requested the people to respect the laws and abide by them. They said across the board action would be taken against fancy/ substandard number plates and tinted glasses.
Size of the number plates approved by the government for car/ jeep is: one feet long and six inches wide. Size of the number plates approved by the government for motorcycle is: six and a half inches long and four and a half inches wide.
