Police kill youth in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: A young man, Waqas Ahmed was killed while his three friends were injured as police fired at a civilian car in Dijkot area, Faisalabad on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the police department said that the young men were instructed to stop the car at a checkpoint but they had sped off. The police officers opened fire at the vehicle which resulted in the death of one while three others got injured (Geo News reported).
“The vehicle ran over ASI Shahid Rasool’s toes and the victim, Waqas, sped away in fear as the police officers took out their guns,” the report added.
According to media reports, Waqas Ahmed along with his friends was returning home from a wedding when they were stopped by four officers of the patrolling police.
The victim’s family sources said that after stopping and questioning them, the police had chased their car and forced Waqas out of the car and then shot him multiple times.
Following the incident, the families of the deceased and injured persons took to roads to protest the incident.
However, the four accused officers have been reportedly arrested whereas the Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar and the Faisalabad CCPO have also taken notice of the incident while an inquiry has been launched.
