Police finds Mufti Aziz-ur-Rehman guilty of sexually abusing student
LAHORE: The Police investigations have found out Mufti Aziz-ur-Rehman guilty of sexually abusing madrassa student in Lahore.
The hearing has postponed to 2pm after the Magistrate Arshad summoned the lawyers of both the suspect and the victim for arguments .
At a hearing on August 23, Mufti Aziz’s lawyer demanded the police present the case challan in court. “The accusations and FIR lodged against the cleric are baseless,” he said, adding that the suspect’s pre-arrest bail should be approved.
Earlier, Mufti Azizur Rehman affiliated with Lahore’s Jamia Manzoor-ul-Islam, was accused of sodomizing a student of the seminary and a purported video of his act has gone viral.
After the video went viral, Mufti has come forward and explained the incident.
While explaining the incident, Mufti Aziz-ur-Rehman,taking oath on Quran, revealed that he was in a state of being intoxicated as he was given something to drink before the filming of viral video.
He further stated that the viral video is years old, it came out as a reaction of an enmity.
However, according to the student, he has been victimised and there is no such thing what Mufti has stated.
The student filmed the video when he was getting sexually assaulted for the second time as when he revealed the first incident no body believed him.
According to a notification dated June 8, 2021, Mufti Aziz-ur-Rehman was terminated by seminary on June 3, 2021 but to this day no FIR has been registered against the 70 years old
Later, the CIA arrested Mufti Aziz-ur-Rehman and his two sons, Altafur Rehman and Atiqur Rehman.
Rehman’s sons were arrested on the charges of threatening the victim against naming their father in the case.
The Lahore police went through difficulty while arresting him earlier, as Rehman and his sons managed to escape.
“Several attempts have been made to arrest him in various areas of Lahore, but the Mufti evaded arrest and escaped,” Naya Daur quoted police spokesperson Arif Rana in its report.
The report also added that Rehman’s mobile phone was showing differing locations in Lahore but he was not present at any of the given locations.
