Police arrest expert hand grenade maker in Karachi
KARACHI: Police on Tuesday arrested an expert hand grenade maker in Karachi’s Bhittai Abad area.
Sindh police and intelligence agencies are conducting operations against anti-national elements, a local news channel reported.
According to details, police and intelligence agencies in Karachi acted on an intelligence information in Bhattai Abad area near the airport. During the joint operation, mastermind of several bomb attacks in Karachi Ramesh Kumar was arrested.
According to police officials, the suspect is a key member of the banned Jiye Sindh Muttahida Mahaz Shafi Barfat group and is the mastermind of more than 38 bomb blasts between 2010 and 2015. The suspect Ramesh Kumar is a highly educated bomb maker as he has obtained degrees of BS in Physics and Telecom from Federal Urdu University Arts Science and Technology.
Police said during custody the accused also confessed to committing target killing, rioting and arson in the megalopolis. Ramesh Kumar said that the orders for carrying out bomb blasts were given from Germany by Shafi Barfat.
Police officials said that hand grenades, explosive material, mobile phones and identity cards were recovered from the accused. Further investigation is underway and more important revelations are expected.
