RAWALPINDI: In a rare display of generosity by the police, a poor roadside vendor was not only handed back his leather jackets that were confiscated a day ago but also given an apology for the inconvenience caused on Tuesday.

A video showing police officials confiscating used leather jackets from the vendor’s cart was attracting popularity on social media since yesterday.

Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Ahsan Younus, took note of the incident, had only assumed charge of his office on Monday. He suspended two officials and ordered an inquiry into the situation.

The police officer also paid a surprise visit to Murree Road and the vendor today.

CPO Younus apologized to the vendor on behalf of his colleagues and returned the confiscated goods to him in a generous way.

He also embraced the vendor, who was surprised to see the city’s top police apologizing to him.
