PML-N’s Rana Tanveer Hussain has been appointed chairman of the National Assembly’s Public Account Committee.
Tanveer says that the committee is in dire need to improve its functioning. He said the PAC’s subcommittees are failing to work according to their expectations.
In order to improve how the committee functions, we will work faster, he said. Tanveer’s name was submitted to consider by PTI MNA Sardar Nasrullah Dreshak.
It was supported by Mushahid Hussain and Pervaiz Ashraf. His appointment was not opposed by anyone else.
Earlier, a seven-member parliamentary team, headed by Punjab Assembly speaker Pervaiz Elahi, was formed to discuss the matter of PAC chairmanship.
The development came after Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar accepted the resignation of Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif from the post of chairman of PAC.
Shehbaz stepped down from his post as leader of the opposition in the National Assembly.
