Pervaiz Rashid, senior PML-N leader, criticized the former military dictator Pervez Musharraf’s death penalty on Friday, saying he was not in favor of capital punishment.
“I am against death penalty,” the PML-N leader said. “This should not be a punishment.”
Nevertheless, he said he was pleased with the decision on Musharraf by the special court. It is a felony to abrogate the constitution, Rashid said.
Musharraf was allowed to leave the country for medical treatment in the PML-N government’s tenure.
Rashid claimed the former military dictator was allowed to go abroad on the recommendation of ex-army chief Raheel Sharif. He said the PML-N government were not capable of stopping him.
He also said that Raheel Sharif wanted an extension in his tenure as the army chief, but the then government did not allow it.
