“PML-N should graciously accept defeat,” says Maryam Nawaz
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz has said that her party should graciously accept defeat in the Punjab by-polls and submit to the will of the people.
“Wherever there are weaknesses, efforts should be made to identify them and overcome them,” she said on her party’s performance in the by-polls.
It should be noted that results of the by-elections are coming out on the 20 vacant seats of the dissident members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Punjab Assembly and the PTI has a clear majority.
Pakistan Muslim League (N) senior leader Malik Ahmad Khan said that ‘I admit with an open heart that PTI has won a landslide victory, the people expressed their opinion and we respect their opinion.”
“I accept that PTI has won, we congratulate the winners and accept our defeat,” he said.
He said that ‘difficulties have arisen in this situation and for the future a joint decision will be taken in consultation with the allies’.
Malik Ahmad Khan further said that ‘I have been busy campaigning in 6 districts and till the day of polling we were confident that we will win easily but the results are opposite’.
“They will inevitably form the government in Punjab, but if we continue to divide their people and those who have grudges with PTI divide them and go to the numbers game, there will be a loss to the province and people.”
