PML-N led govt again increases petrol price by Rs1.45 per litre

The PML-N led federal coalition government once again increased the petrol price by Rs1.45 to Rs237.43 per litre in a bid to fulfill International Monetary Funds (IMF) demand.
The official procedure is that the notification of revised prices is issued around 12 midnight, but this time the notification was issued by the finance division at around 2am after a delay of 2 hours.
According to the notification, the price of petrol has been increased from Rs235.98 to Rs 237.43, while the price of high speed diesel (HSD) remain unchanged at Rs247.43.
The price of kerosene has been reduced by Rs8.30 from Rs210.32 to Rs202.2, the price of light diesel oil has been reduced by Rs4.26 from Rs201.54 to Rs197.28.
The price revision was supposed to be done after September 15, but the PML-N led federal coalition government remained in a quandary over the matter.
The delay gave rise to rumors that the government was facilitating petroleum dealers to sell existing inventories bought at higher rates during the last 15 days.
According to the estimates of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of diesel per litre was to be reduced by Rs2 and the price of petrol by Rs9.
