MANSEHRA: The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) is adamant to hold rally in Mansehra on Wednesday (today) despite the local administration’s refusal to provide the no objection certificate (NoC) amid concern of the rising number of coronavirus cases.
The district administration of Mansehra said that the virus could accelerate the rate of spread of COVID-19 in the district where ratio of positive infection cases was already nine percent.
Sources said that police have also refused to provide security to the public gathering over non provision of the NoC.
While the leadership of the PML-N said that preparation for the rally were complete and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and other party leaders were also invited in the meeting.
PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Spokesperson Ikhtiar Wali said that the meeting would be held, come rain or shine. He said they did not accept orders of cancellation of the gathering.
“The civil bureaucracy should not become a clerk for Prime Minister Imran Khan. The PM and his ministers have recently held dozens of public gatherings,” he said.
Maryam, Shahid Khaqan, Engineer Amir Muqam, Murtaza Javed Abbasi and other leaders are expected to address the rally.
Last week, on Nov 13, the PML-N had held a public gathering in Swat.
