PM Shehbaz waives off electricity bills for two months in flood-hit areas
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Wednesday to waive off electricity bills for the months of August and September for the consumers residing in flood-affected areas across the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the flood-affected areas of Balochistan, he also took an aerial view of Sohbatpur.
He directed to solve the problem of drinking water in Sohbatpur immediately and speed up the process of water drainage from flood-hit areas.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif while talking to the media in the Sohbatpur said that, ‘every eye is grieving over the ravages of the flood, the entire nation is fighting the flood ravages unitedly.’
On behalf of the authorities, the prime minister was also informed about the ongoing efforts to help the victims and restore the damaged infrastructure.
Chief Secretary Balochistan told the premier that 128 roads were affected in Balochistan, out of which 91 have been restored,
“We have an Rs11 billion plan for the restoration of livestock in the province,” he added.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that after the Sindh province, Balochistan has been affected the most by floods, all the crops have been destroyed, the federal government, provincial governments and institutions are busy in rehabilitating the flood victims.
Talking about the relief aid, the PM said that Rs25000 per household is being distributed to the flood affected people, about Rs24 billion have been distributed to the flood victims so far.
Shahbaz Sharif, while providing relief to the flood victims, announced that electricity bills for August and September will not be taken for the flood victims, while relief of Rs35 billion subsidy will be given to consumers using 300 units.
“You have ample funds, if you need more, let me know, relief work should not stop, 250,000 mosquito nets have been given to the flood victims, tents from Turkey should be given to the flood victims of Balochistan,” PM Shehbaz said,
