PM Shehbaz approves Lt Gen Faiz Hameed’s request for early retirement

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday accepted the request of former Director-General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Bahawalpur Corps Commander Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, seeking early retirement.
According to the sources, Lt Gen. Faiz Hameed sent the application for early retirement to GHQ.
The development came after the appointment of General Syed Asim Munir as Chief of the Army Staff and General Sahir Shamshad Mirza as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.
The Ministry of Defence had sent the Lt Gen Faiz Hameed’s request to the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for approval, which has been approved by the premier today, sources said.
Lt Gen Faiz Hameed was in the list of most senior officers sent by GHQ to appoint the chief of the army staff (COAS).
Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed has held important positions including Corps Commander Peshawar and DG ISI during the government of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
